De Middel uses her photojournalistic background to question familiar visual formulas. Reconstruction reveals that every document contains choices.

The Afronauts

The project revisits a 1960s Zambian space programme through staged images and archival clues. Akimbo belongs to a sequence where fact and invention remain in tension.
